Rome’s Peter Pan charity saved from eviction
There is no longer any risk of eviction for the Rome-based Peter Pan Onlus association, the centre that provides support for families with children suffering from cancer, according to the newly-elected president of the Lazio Region Nicola Zingaretti who has guaranteed the organisation a rent-free building.
Zingaretti made the promise on 14 March during a visit to Casa di Peter Pan, which is situated behind the Regina Coeli prison on Via S. Francesco di Sales.
Praising the centre’s “wonderful network of volunteers and professionals” Zingaretti said that Casa di Peter Pan represents “an example of what we want to build in Lazio with regard to socio-health integration.”
The charitable organisation said on 6 February that it received a ten-day eviction notice from the Lazio Region’s Istituti Raggruppati per l’Assistenza all’Infanzia (IRAI), to vacate the Casa di Peter Pan building.
At the time the association said that it had always paid its rent to the regional body and had never received any funding from public bodies.
